The Police Activities League of Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic County offers a variety of programs, leagues, events, and services for our local community! One of our biggest passions is providing opportunities for our local community to learn more about STEM! STEM encompasses science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This field encompasses a wide variety of specific areas such as robotics, astronomy, forensics, coding, and SO much more! We want to introduce everyone to all of our STEM opportunities, especially our STEM Research Mission!
STEM Research Mission
PAL Calypso Coastal Research Mission with UnderWater ROV
Grades 8-12
The Police Activities League of Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic County, (PAL/EHT&AC) in conjunction with the Rutgers/Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JC NERR), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), and Freedom Boat Club is spearheading a citizen science research mission and will observe first hand, our coastal marine ecosystem using the PAL’s Genneino Titan Underwater ROV. Observations of the local marine ecosystem will be conducted 40-50 feet below the surface and 3 miles off the coast of Brigantine over a 2-year period. The data collected will assist local research to determine how dredging and sand replenishment along the coast affects our local ecosystem.
We are looking for youth members interested in participating in our Underwater research project as Student Leaders, UWROV Pilots, UWROV Co-Pilots, Data Recorders, and Social Media Agents. Training for this mission will include; boating safety, ROV operation, camera operation, data collection, analysis, and documentation.

A main focus of the Police Activities League of Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic County is to offer a variety of fun and educational STEM programs. In addition to our competitive teams, we have camps and workshops, clubs, and research programs. In our efforts to share STEM education, we try to provide opportunities for as many children in our community as possible. We have limited funding for at-risk youth and have scholarships available for families that need financial assistance in having their children attend these workshops. If you are interested in this assistance please get in touch with us. If you are interested in supporting the work that we do as a non-profit organization you can find more information about donating or volunteering on our website!
