General Aviation Design Challenge

Grades 8-12

The Police Activities League of Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic County has been selected to participate in the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) General Aviation Design Challenge. PAL will be one of 150 teams nationally competing for bragging rights and an all expense paid trip to the CubCrafters in Yakima,Washington. 

We are in search of highly motivated students in grades 9-12 interested in aviation, CAD or  engineering. Using the X-PLane flight simulation software, members will be guided through the science of flight and airplane design, completing the curriculum in approximately six weeks. They will then apply what they learn to modify the design of an airplane and compete in a virtual fly-off. The challenge will be scored on aerodynamic and performance parameters while flying a specific mission profile.
